Pricing: Don't Make These 5 Mistakes

Pricing has to be one of the least talked about topics amongst other freelancers in the industry.

It’s one of many reasons why we started The Freelance Photographer!

To have open conversation on topics that most freelancers aren’t normally willing to talk about.

Having that “pricing” or “budget” conversation with a potential client can be intimidating.

In order to help, we put together a list of pricing mistakes to avoid as a brand photographer and videographer:

  • Revealing pricing before understanding the needs of the client

  • Having pre-determined pricing packages

  • Pricing solely on deliverables

  • Undercharging because you’re nervous about getting a “no”

  • Not accounting for the amount of time you spend on pre- and post-production, and pricing only based on the hours that it takes to shoot the actual content

At the end of the day, there is no one-size fits all price that we can charge to our clients, it’s customized and is going to be specific to their business and needs.

Rather than responding to an inquiry over an email, remember to get them on a call and take the time to understand what they’re looking to achieve, so you can provide a solution to their needs!
